    I am actually using essential oils and all candelilla wax for my candles, and the hot throw I am getting is excellent. Cold throw is mild but smells great. I figured out the adding my essential oils at 153 degrees and stirring them in well is key. Thanks for the video.

    Just getting started and I’ve been hung up on the idea of essential oils because I am an asthmatic.. But this video was so very informative, and I greatly appreciate the breakdown.. I think I’ll use both and make sure to label them as such, that way, whatever the customer is looking for I’ll have, and the decision is solely theirs .. Thank you!!😊

    I don’t think that giving away 84 candles should be the main focus in this video. It should be the fact that 84 candles need to be produced and the craft consistently needs to be taken seriously before you take on the business of candle making

    Wow amazing explanation thank you!! 🙏🏽 I would love some advice with my situation if possible. I have only used fragrance oils in my candles so far. I am a holistic practitioner for animals mostly and was told by the holistic community that candles are very toxic and that you should never use fragrances in the home with animals as it can cause the the liver to be over taxed. I am aware that there are certain essential oils that are not animal friendly as I work with essential oils in other ways. I know animals are more sensitive than us so would it be best to stick with animal friendly essential oils in this case? Is there such thing as an animal friendly fragrance oil? Thanks! 🙏🏽

    Hi Kevin, I'm hoping you'll clear something up for me. Do I need to try to keep my wax temp at exactly 185° for the whole two minute duration of stirring? Im finding it extremely tricky to keep putting/ taking it off the heat to keep the temp steady and stir at the same time. 😩 Or am I just overcomplicating this step?

    • @ArmatageCandleCompany
      @ArmatageCandleCompany Місяць тому

      Definitely over complicating it. You CAN keep it high, but there’s no need to. The idea was to have that wax as “open” as possible when the fragrance oil enters.

    Seriously. Stop with the mention of kits. No smart person thinks they can make money mass producing from kits. If you don’t know you have to do a large amount of testing and you don’t understand business and marketing, you probably should dove right in.

    As someone with breathing issues I find scented ones are usually waaaay to strong and headache inducing. It's hard to find unscented or lightly scented. The more natural and gentle the better, I'm definitely in the essential oils camp.

    • @KorraMea
      @KorraMea 9 днів тому

      Literally same but....opposite for me. Breathing issues and I cant handle strong scents (headaches and the works) and also have asthma, allergies, eczema (really shouldn't just be alive apparently) so I have to do unscented skincare products, soaps, shampoos, moisturizers etc. Buuuuuuut I was also cursed with an affiliation for scents so I try to find nonskin contact scented products, what I found is that essential oils are generally a NO-go for me because of the magnitude of compounds that are in just one essential oil that can trigger all the things I have. Can immediately tell when there's essential oil in candles when my eyes starts burning after a few minutes and my skin start to itch. I find that natural is actually harsher, because at the end of the day they're all chemical compounds and fewer variety of compounds is easier to isolate and control for sensitivity issues. It's hard but I try to find lightly scented, low throw, non-essential oil candles and use candle warmer lamps to avoid the combustion related triggers. Hence why I came to this video to maybe learn how to make my own that won't kill me, but so far fragrance oil camp for me.

    Really great video! I've taken a couple of in-person candle making classes and started making candles about a month ago. Everytime I think "I got this", I come across another problem. I love Kevin's KISS (Keep it simple, stupid) advise. I generally don't keep ANYTHING in my life simple 😂but he is 100% correct about this. You really have to keep it simple, be patient, and stay focused. I'm determined to get this right and these videos are incredibly helpful. Thank you, Kevin!

    I've been making fragranced candles for over a year now and have just run across a shop that wants to stock them, but wants them to be fragrance free. I'm stumped after a lot of research as to what temperature I need to heat my Golden Brands 464 soy wax to if I'm NOT adding fragrance oils? I generally pour at 155° and that always turns out a beautiful candle. However, when I made my last batch of fragrance free candles, I heated to 185° (since I wasn't sure how hot I needed to go) and poured at 155°. Half of them were cracked on the top and I've never had that happen when adding fragrance. I know that using a heat gun would fix it, but I'm curious as to the actual cause and how I might prevent it? I knew you'd be the right person to ask!! Thanks for all of your highly informative and in depth videos. They're my go-to! 😊

    Candle-making like any kind of artistic endeavor is not a science but an art. You can't tie it to a step-by-step procedure that works for everyone. Specialize in certain kinds of candles and there will be no need to test that many before you start selling. You can always expand later. It's not a factory model type process. It's a creative process. Just make great art. People will buy it.

    If you spend too much time in preparation your competitor will win out on your business. They will be making candles everyday while you are sitting around testing. Or worse, you will you waste a lot of product when only perhaps a fraction of the ones you made will sell.

    The idea of 84 is also silly if you plan to specialize in just one sort of candle. If people want to offer like a hundred items this might have some validity but not much. Like I said plan your budget plan your materials and know how you're going to ship and all the other details and then just get busy making candles and listing them. It worked for me!!

  • @smalltownglobalproductions
    @smalltownglobalproductions 2 місяці тому

    Too many people out there prepare too much. Some prep is important such as knowing the types of candles you plan to make, the materials and the kinds of wax and scents etc yes but don't wait too long. Just do it. You will learn with time how to perfect your craft and you'll find people are pretty forgiving when you are offering something unique for their shopping experience. Just trust yourself and take action! The 84 rule is silly. The people you give it to will just resell them and act like they made them.

    I'm starting to experience soy candle wax for wax melts and votive candles. My sister sells Scentsy, but some of the fragrances from Scentsy are too overwhelming. I'm opting for essential oils in my candles and wax melts.
